Houseboat Fire on Fairview
When: 5:40 PM on Friday, June 22nd, 2007.
Where: 2017 Fairview Avenue East
What: A two-alarm fire tore through a houseboat. Sixteen houseboats were temporarily evacuated. The fire was contained in an hour by SHP and SFD with no injuries reported.

Robbery and Shooting at Serafinas
When: Around 1 AM on Wednesday, June 6, 2007.
Where: Serafina, 2043 Eastlake Avenue East.
What: A gunman trying to rob a restaurant shot and wounded a bartender. During a struggle the gunman shot the bartender in the right arm. The bartender, a 23-year-old man, underwent surgery at Harborview Medical Center. His injury was not life-threatening. The gunman, who appeared to be in his 20s and was wearing a purple bandanna, fled after the shooting. It appeared that no money was taken.

High Speed Car Chase and Crash on FVE
When: Around 12:00 PM on Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007
Where: They sped along Fairview Ave. E., Roanoke Street, and Minor Avenue East.
What: "There was a high-speed chase in which a State Patrol car was following a felon in a sport utility at speeds in excess of 50 miles per hour. Eventually the chase terminated in a crash which destroyed a van with a lift that is used by a ten-year old cerebral palsy victim." -and- "I got caught in the middle of it and luckily got myself and my car out of the way. I know that he hit several vehicles while running
from the cops. I was just curious to know how it ended. I hope nobody was injured."

Car Break-In on Fairview
When: Sometime during the night of Thursday, May 31st, 2007
Where: Parked near 2025 Fairview Ave. E.
What: "Someone got into my car again two nights ago and had a key as they turned off my loud Mexican banda music and left the window open. The prostitutes continue to work the parking lot --wonder sometimes if there is a connection. At least they couldn't start the engine since we put in a bypass switch.
Car Break-In on Portage Bay
When: Sometime during the night of Sunday, June 3rd, 2007.
Where: Parked on Boyer in front of 2818 mailboxes.
What: "Someone smashed the small back window, got in the car and stole my radio. (They took my NPR!!!!) Nothing else. I had the steering wheel lock on, so I guess I should be happy they didn't take my car!

Car Break-Ins on Portage Bay
When: Between midnight and 7:00 AM Sunday, June 17th, 2007
Where: Portage Bay Place East
What: "Two cars were prowled on Portage Bay Place E. One at the foot of Martin Street (3300 Portage Bay Place E), the other at 3126 Portage Bay Place. (There may have been others, but I haven't heard.) Both cars had been opened without damage to doors. Glove compartments, other storage, and trunks were rifled, with contents scattered. Nothing was taken except money, apparently (though one owner hasn't yet retrieved car registration). Estimated $40 - $60 from Martin St car, $2 - 4$ from 3126. The offense was minor, but the pattern will be noted."

What: "my neighbors car was prowled Sunday also. He may have lost registration papers - it's not for sure."

Suspicious Person on Fairview
When: Around 7 PM on Saturday, June 23, 2007
Where: 2239 Fairview Ave E
What: "I was leaving my house Saturday evening and passed a man standing in our yard (our dock has a garden/yard between us and the street). I walked up to the street to put some stuff in our dumpster and then returned to ask the man if he was a guest. When I asked (very politely I might add) if he was a guest, he said angrily/sarcastically "No, I'm here to rip you off." He seemed annoyed and very indignant that I was asking him what he was doing there. He packed what appeared to be a couple of spray paint cans into his backpack, got on his bicycle and left. He was white, tall (about 6'1"?), slender to medium build, had long brown dreadlocks and a dreadlocked beard. He took off on his bike down Fairview and turned up East Boston Street."
