Two Car Break-Ins on Fairview

When: Sometime during the night of Tuesday, July 31st.
Where: Both cars were parked in front of 2019 Fairview Ave. E.
What: "Our car had the back passenger window broken out. The car was still locked when we found it, and nothing was missing. We had removed the face plate from our stereo. We had a club on our car. Our neighbor had the stereo stolen from his car the same night. Unfortunately he had left the removable face plate on his stereo. The contents of his glove compartment were tossed on the ground outside his car. I don't know if he had a club."
Reported To: SPD.

Car stolen in July at Fairview and Boston Recovered

When: Friday, August 3rd.
Where: The car was recovered on Magnolia.
What: "We actually got a call Friday from the SPD that our Sentra had been impounded (in Magnolia) and we picked it up that night, exactly four weeks after it disappeared. No damage that we can see and nothing whatsoever taken. From the looks of it, it was sitting outside most of the month. We can't recall the mileage so don't know if it was driven farther than Fairview to Magnolia, but it had a quarter tank of gas and started right up. Anyhow, the $178 to get it out of impound was better than losing the car. We're still amazed. Thanks for keeping us all alert!"

Hostile Visitors to Terry Pettus Park

When: Sometime in early August
Where: Terry Pettus Park and the parking lot directly across the street from 2017 FVE.
What: "There have been ongoing problems with drug dealing, prostitutes and transients near our dock for years. Recently I had a confrontation with likely drug dealers. Around 12 noon a black Infinity car with four men and a red Mercedes convertible with one man in it parked in a reserved parking spot owned by my houseboat neighbor. I told them they could not park there. In a central area accent one of the men said, 'get out of my face.' I said, 'I hope you aren't here dealing drugs.' I felt threatened and now don't feel safe in my own neighborhood even in the afternoon. This is a sad state of affairs. I have called the cops many, many times over the years but the problem is usually down by the waterfront in the park and requires the cops to get out of their cars and walk. Driving by isn't enough."
Reported To: SPD many times.

Interest in Hiring Private Security Guards

The recent filming of a movie at 2017 FVE and the constant security guards presence there brought up the possibility of hiring private security guards for the area. If you are interested in this topic please call Kathy Lynch at 206-324-6463.
