Shorelines Market Study Released

DPD has published their Comparison of Land Supply and Demand for Water-Dependent and Water-Related Uses.  This is the report generated from interviews last summer with owners and users of the shorelines.

One focus is on "marine clusters" of businesses, water-dependant or not, which interact and combine near the waterfront to create a critical mass of support services.  If these activities are too far away from the shoreline or spread out too far, their advantages diminish sharply.

Among other things, there is also a fairly thorough analysis of current inventory vs. projected demand.

The report acknowledges they interviewed representatives of floating homes ("Bowman, et al"), but seems to scrupulously avoid saying much else about us.

In her transmitting email, Maggie Glowacki said that the tables would be finalized in January.  She also says the report is open to comments until January 5.
