If you have a reasonably fast internet connection (enough for YouTube), check out Lake Union Virtual Museum.
The virtual museum features "exhibits," or short videos, about Lake Union and its history. Included are a site introduction with Dick Wagner, founder of the Center for Wooden Boats and past president of the Floating Homes Association; a piece about houseboats with Howard Droker, author of the definitive history "Seattle's Unsinkable Houseboats;" and the story of Cheshiahud, the last of the First People on Lake Union, with Jacqueline Swanson, a descendant.
Several more interesting stories are also on the site with more promised.
This site is a great contribution to the ongoing buzz about Lake Union and Portage Bay. It should be as interesting to old-timers as it is to newcomers to the lake.
