Season's Greetings

On Thanksgiving Holiday, Jim and I entertained family from British Columbia. My brother, Terry had never been down for the American Thanksgiving. His partner, Sharon, born in the southern US, moved to B.C. when she was 12 years old, so this was a special occasion for her to celebrate a holiday she remembered from North Carolina. Unfortunately, we spent most of this holiday indoors watching the rain. Finally, on sunny Saturday, Sharon and Terry ventured out. They returned hours later with a watercolour of a rain swept path. Sharon was pleased to have found a way to preserve this rainy holiday and take it back to the dry and sunny Okanagan Valley.

Now that Thanksgiving is over, I've listed several holiday activities to keep houseboat residents and friends in a holly, jolly mood.

Argosy Christmas Cruise Dates

How about the Argosy Christmas Cruises? Google: Seattle Christmas Ships for a detailed list of sailings, or phone 888.623.1445. The Argosy and a flotilla of smaller boats put on a great display of holiday lights on opening night, December 1 with evening sailings through a variety of waterways until the parade finale on Friday December 23. This finale begins at Kirkland dock and arrives in Portage Bay at 8:45pm remaining until 9:05pm. During that time a local choir performs and then it's onto Gas Works Park. For houseboaters on Portage Bay, this is the night to throw the big party to let guests enjoy a special sight; the sounds and lights of the holiday season.

Holiday Houseboatique!

Followup on Vancouver Float House Zastrozzi

In the first WaterBlog, October 18th, I shared some links to Mary Hughes and her 'float house' on Vancouver Island. Here is a follow up: a short YouTube version of a Shaw TV interview Mary did about The Life and Times of the Floathouse Zastrozzi.... She thought it might amuse members of the Seattle houseboat community.
